A Level in Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of how humans think and behave. It covers a wide range of topics including how our brains work, our memory, group behaviours and psychological disorders. A knowledge of Psychology is becoming increasingly important in a range of disciplines; sport coaching, human resources management, advertising, marketing, counselling and teaching. Psychology will also help to develop your analytical, independent thinking and research skills.

Five Level 2 qualifications at a grade 4 or above. This must include at least 3 GCSE qualifications and English or Maths. For A Level subjects, a grade 6 is required in that subject (or a facilitating subject) at GCSE. For BTEC subjects, a Merit in that subject (or a facilitating subject) is required at Level 2.

You will study a wide range topics that will enhance your understanding of human cognitive processes, social influence, psychological abnormalities, the psychology of relationships, aggression and how research in this fascinating subject is carried out.

A Level Psychology will be assessed by written exams at the end of the course. There is no coursework.

Psychology alllows for a career in a range of areas ranging from humanities subjects to various areas of science. Careers include psychologist, social worker, lawyer and many more.
